Summer is over... What was your highlight?

Post by leprechaun » Sat Sep 01, 2012 1:57 pm

So today marks the end of Summer and the start of Autumn, (don't know how the seasons work in your part of the world but she's gone here).

What will you look back on and remember, what was it that made it for you? There's been manys a highlight for me including my first nephew, but in terms of enjoyment, hands down winner was being part of this crowd at Sziget watching a Bavarian brass band go absolutely mental at the World Music Stage.

And so without further ado, i give you LaBrassBanda, finishing off their set with complete style and energy. Enjoy.

Four star familiar.

We had the worst summer on record. I wish to forget it quickly.

You know, until now I had no idea that seasons had different dates in other countries( aside from Australia that is)

Fall starts on Sept 22nd here in Canada

We had (and are still having) an exceptionally beautiful summer and abnormally hot weather. The farmers aren't too happy about it though, as the dryness is real bad for the crops.

No major highlights to underline, just same old pretty much

i have a feeling Canada is going to be a three season country this year.

the record high here is 43C.. thats without humidity or anything. it got to fucking 43C this summer. it was about 50C after the humidity was factored in.

in the 20s it actually feels cool outside.

also out of a small garden, i managed to produce enough food to keep me fed for most of winter. next year im going to be renting a much larger plot of land. really cant wait for that.

if only i didnt have to pay for shit lol. would make life a lot easier for the time being, itd just require a bunch of different kind of work.

it will get cold. hell freezes over on the plains here every winter. my highlights wasn't a good one, but its one I wont ever forget. we were playing football and I dove out for a pass. when I landed I came down on my side and a piece of straw shot through my eardrum. blood starting pouring out of my ear and I ended up having to have surgery to replace my eardrum. its all good now, but that was a miserable six weeks.

I've had a great eternal summer since moving to Southern California. In all seriousness though, I had quite a few many highlights. Two of my favorite memories revolved around friends visiting from Canada. My first buddy came around for a week and we went to Rock The Bells (a major hip hop festival) in San Bernardino, California. If any of you live in the States and enjoy hip-hop, you guys should definitely give it a look on Google. I actually also have a thread about it somewhere in the tunes section. I've been going since 2009 or 2010 and it hasn't disappointed yet.

The second visit I had came out of nowhere as a friend of mine from high school just happened to be staying in a hostel in my area. He was only around for a day or two but we had a great time as well.

Other than that, I got to touch the Stanley Cup for the first time and take a pic with it :). Huge hockey fan so it was pretty cool indeed.
I saw on TV today, this man lost his son, his son died...
So he had him cremated, took his ashes, and then made it into a Diamond ring...
Now he watches his son shine every day.
I just thought about that, while I sit here ashing in this ashtray...

This was a pretty uneventful summer for me. No traveling, no festivals, just work really.

So my highlight is kind of sad.

I got moved upon by a random chick at a bar, she just started chatting me up and before I knew it we were both pretty sauced and on our way to her place.

Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.
