Book Reccomendations?

Post by stoner_pacman » Sat Feb 13, 2010 6:09 pm

I couldn't find a section to discuss books, maybe because im smoking or maybe because it's not there Who knows?

Anyway i'd like to reccomend the farseer trilogy by robin hobb, followed by the liveship traders trilogy and then the tawny man trilogy, The 9 books all run in chronological order and tell the story of a boy growing all the way to manhood. the characters are amazingly believable and theres magic but not in the usual "in your face with a fireball" method most fantasy writers take. its a lot more mystical. they are also really funny when they need to be and the last line of the last book made me cry, im not too embaressed because I think most people that read all the books would feel the same.

Id like some reccomendations from you guys/girls too of any books that really made an impact when you read them. whether emotionaly or just in general.

Peace out!

Are those books about teens with supernatural powers and weird tattoos? I think I bought book one at Wal-Mart but I have yet to read it cuz I'm still reading Vampire Hunter D.

Check out The Gatekeeper Series. Book One, Ravens Gate, is the best out of all of them imo. Make sure to read it high if you check them out. It's a young adult series but it has tons of violence and supernatural shit. (Y)

Anne Rice vampire chronicles

Interview with the Vampire
The Vampire Lestat
Queen of the Damned
Tale of the Body Theif
Memnoch the Devil
Vampire Armand
etc etc

i lost interest after memnoch the devil, got a bit to much for me really, and queen of the damned can be a real slug to get through but memnoch the devil is worth it i swear, was young when i first read it and i swear it changed the way i saw things

I think...

I just fell in love with you..

I couldn't get through Memnoch The Devil.

Can't decide between Queen Of The Damned and Tale of the Body Thief as my ultimate fav. Queen Of The Damned is def worth the read.

Body Thief was for sure a short read.

Queen was hella long, but still amazing. I love the history of the twins.

I'll give Memnoch a try..but honestly I didn't understand a word of it. 0.o

Damn these giant ponds. (N)

Most likely the first couple of pages.

Don't think I really need to read it tho..I get that Lestat had the shroud, Armand freaked out and tried to kill himself but the sun didn't hurt him? I think....? I read all of The Vampire Armand, but I don't fully understanding the ending :dunno: Also all the gay spanking and buttsecks almost made me stop reading it.

yes the moment with marius and armand in the bathtub did it for me, at that moment i realised i could continue no further.... well i was 15 so that, in such detail, scared me back then lol
but memnoch the devil and lestat getting the veil is like only the conclussion of the story, the point of it is for the way she tells of god and the devil and creation n shit, its just a unique way to look on religion i guess but i found it interesting
