Never been hugely into LEGO, but just looking at some of those pics makes be want to go build some shit right now. :)
I saw on TV today, this man lost his son, his son died...
So he had him cremated, took his ashes, and then made it into a Diamond ring...
Now he watches his son shine every day.
I just thought about that, while I sit here ashing in this ashtray...

I'm currently in the process of creating a custom built gas station and garage for my son..The store bought sets carry a ridiculous price. I'm putting together something almost as good as the real thing for about $35

I'm even drawing up a 3D plan to go with it. I'll post up pics of it when it's done, but it won't be for awhile. I'm waiting on an order from Bricklink for over 100 specialty part pieces for it..All I have built now is the basic buildings with no details

This is fun...

So this is the very, very basic plan for the service station and carwash. I built the basic shape already without any detail pieces whatsoever...they are coming in the mail. This is like only 1/3 of the final build. Later on there will also be the car repair section added on with serious details such as car lift, tire balancing machine, drill press, bench grinder, full toolbox, doors, windows, counters, shelves etc ... The whole thing is made only from white, red and green bricks, like the Octan Lego garage set, and it will be complete with Octan logos, flags and whatnot. The carwash (section on the left) will also be extended. There will be a car repair shop with room for 2 cars, with one working 1 car lift that goes up and down

The real service station set looks like this

Image

Mine will be basically that except my roof will be flat on the service station

Here's the basic gas station part of my build (without detail pieces) - Repair garage and carwash extension do not show in these pics ..yet

I am also drawing up 3D plans to help with the build...They are far from perfect but do give a basic idea..I used my eye to draw them...graph paper would been better but o well....

If I can find batteries I'll post the full building plans later

Image

Buying both the service station and garage sets would have cost around 200 bucks...custom made like this will cost around 40 bucks for everything cause we already have alot of the basic pieces. What I had to order was detail pieces / logos and the baseplates
