Other than people like Banksy and Dolk, I have a deep respect for Blek le rat, who pretty much started the whole stencil art trend.

A couple of years ago, the big headed version of myself once dismissed banksy as only impressive due to his size.... no double entendre intended, i mean the stencils. With maybe perhaps a bit of photoshop skills. Used to think that stencils where just a bish bash jobs done, easy peasy kinda thing. I still to this day think that there are far better genres of graffiti, but i've lessoned my intolerance for stencils. All for the better.
Four star familiar.

as with so much art, Leprechaun, there will always be people who could have done the same thing, have they just thought of it. "IF" they had thought of it.

I was of the same mindset, leprechaun...and I also disliked his name. All of a sudden everyone around me was talking about Banksy, the cream of the crop of the New Cool. Or perhaps I just recorded things that way, to suit my unreasonable dislike of his name. I'm not a big fan of y or o added to names to make them kinda nicknamey, cozy, amicable. Probably part of the explanation as to why I returned to Daniel a year or two back, from Dan of many years. There were always a small group who knew me as Daniel...that's for another thread.

I have grown to value far more highly the street artist mentioned in this thread. Melbourne has a few areas where such imagery is rampant, encouraged and respected, although I heard that a few years back the council mistakenly painted over a Banksy. Which made me chuckle, but others cringe. On a recent walking tour of the city I took some photos of the finest work I encountered and will post my findings here in due course.
