juventus primavera

Post by weedguru_animal » Sun Jan 20, 2013 8:00 am

Our primavera team returned to action yesterday and proceeded to earn their first victory of 2013 with a well earned 2-1 home victory over mid table Spezia. With our nearest challengers, Fiorentina, winning 2-0 at home to Genoa, it was important to grab all three points. Second Striker Eric Lanini, mainly used as a sub previously took the most of his opportunity by cooly slotting home when put through one on one with the keeper in the first half. The oddly nicknamed 'squealing piglets' of Spezia recovered and pulled themselves level through a curling free kick hit by General Franco, but that man again, Lanini, was on hand to put the game beyond their sinister reach, when converting a penalty. Worth noting is that along those playing due to the absence of several key first team players, 15 year old ITaly u16 midfielder Fillipo Romagna made his debut. Mightily impressive to find someone of that age mixing it with the surely more physically developed mainly 18 and 19 year olds in the primavera league.

With 15 games played, we remain in first position, 4 points clear of Fiorentina.

Baroni's young warriors must now begin to prepare for the first leg of their coppa italia semi-final this coming wednesday, where they will face arch enemies, Torino. Hopefully, by then some of our star players will have recovered from their various stints in the medical ward...

First match was a cracker...we crunched the slovenian slouches 4-2. A hatrick from Lanini with Beltrame grabbing the other goal.
JUVENTUS (3-5-2): Branescu; Penna (46' Untersee), Rugani, Laursen; Ruggiero (75' Mattiello), Kabashi, Schiavone (58' Cavion), Gerbaudo, Ceria; Beltrame (58' Bonatini), Padovan (19' Lanini).
All. Baroni

The goals-
Lanini 24', 28', 40'
Beltrame 46'
Ceria's quality cross set up Lanini to head in his first strike. I think it was Ruggiero whose neat footwork in the box set-up Lanini to blast home the second from 6 yards out. And it looked like that man Ceria again, crossing in from the left to give Lanini the chance to nod in for his hatrick...And if my eyes and ears aren't misleading me, it was surely the only contender for the MOM award with Lanini, Edoardo Ceria, who swung in the corner for Beltrame's wonderful volley from the edge of the box.

Juventus – Avellino 2 -1

Juventus: Branescu, Untersee, Magnusson, Laursen (dal 48′ st Garcia), Tavanti ( dal 30′ st Ruggiero), Kabashi, Cavion, Gerbaudo (dal 20′ st Beltrame), Mattiello (dal 30′ st Ceria), Bonatini, Lanini. All.: Baroni

Goals- Lanini 18' and 88'.

5 goals now for Lanini, in 2 games. With group whipping boys Leichardt set to face us today, expect the prima punta to add to his tally, unless he is rested as could well be the case with qualification to the next round already assured. But...with the chance to take our foot off the gas, perhaps we will see Cevallos make his debut.

Juventus 0 - 0 Liechhardt (AUS)
Branescu
Rugani( 63' Untersee) Romagna Garcia
Tavanti( Laursen) Ruggiero (68' Lanini) Cavion( 63'Kabashi) Mattielo(63' Ceria) Cevallos
Bonatini Beltrame

Beltrame was particularly lively with the best chance of the first half falling to his head via a perfect cross from debutant Cevallos. The australians threatened but Branescu and Garcia kept them at bay...Matiello provided two decent opportunities with quality crosses aimed at Bonatini and Cevallos who both failed to connect truly. Lanini, in top form throughout the tournament so far made his presence felt soon after entering the fray with a shot whistling just wide of goal. Ceria also looked likely and was thwarted at the final hurdle by the australian defence. Bonatini had the bit between his teeth and his perseverance led to a strike against the post, and then another chance save by the keeper.

Along with Torino, Inter and All Boys (Argies) we topped our group in the first section of the draw. Genoa, Parma. Anderlect and Virtus Entella all qualified as runner-ups. The second section of the tournament play their final group games today after which the draw for the next round will be made.

Unfortunately, our youngsters suffered an unexpected 1-0 defeat to Juve Stabia yesterday, dumping us abruptly out of the tournament. Unsurprisingly, this wasn't a run of the mill game, with Juve finishing the match with only 9 men on the field after first Branescu (took a player out in the area and was the last man), in the first half, and then Beltrame ( dissent after clearly been taken out in the area and no penalty or card given) in the second period, were given their marching orders. We should have had a penalty when Beltrame was crunched in the box as well as a red card for our opponents, and Lanini missed a great chance very late on, with fellow striker Padovan also denied near the end with a great save from their keeper...Even with 9 men we looked more than capable of grabbing a draw if not the victory. Still, it just wasn't to be. And there is little need to be too down in the mouth, for we are striving ahead brilliantly in the league and cup and have a knockout match with Rosenborg to look forward to later this month in the next round of the NextGen series...

Branescu; Rugani, Magnusson, Garcia Tena; Ceria (Bonatini), Cavion (Kabashi), Schiavone, Gerbaudo (Citti 16'), Mattiello (ruggiero 2T); Padovan, Beltrame

espulso (RED CARD)- Branescu 16', Beltrame 69'
