Indoor Security Tips for Marijuana Growers

Every year law enforcement agencies all over the country spend thousands if not millions of dollars of tax-payers money on finding and shutting down marijuana growing operations. So how can a grower avoid having their plants destroyed and their freedom taken away? Read the list below for some helpful tips.

Security Checklist for Indoor Marijuana Growers

1. You should obviously keep your indoor growing room locked at all times. This will eliminate the chances of other people accidentally discovering your indoor garden. Don't leave any tell-tale signs of a grow laying around in plain site. (nutrients, plant pots, soil etc)

2. Keep your garden a secret. This is the hardest rule for any grower to follow. You might think it's no big deal to show your best friend your three 6 foot marijuana trees. But your friend might tell his friend who might tell his friend... The majority of police "busts" are made because someone tipped off the cops. Make sure anybody that knows about the grow operation has just as much to lose as you do.

3. Maintain a low profile. It would rather be suspicious if people see you hauling 40 lbs potting soil bags, fans, and grow lights into your home. Try and do it under the cover of darkness, and make it a point to disable the lights that go off each time you open your car's doors. Ideally the unloading should be done behind a closed garage door if possible . You can conceal some items in everyday cardboard boxes or large shoppping bags. Keep in mind to get rid of anything related to your growing activities from your car such as pots and gardening tools

4. Avoid purchasing tools and various items for your indoor marijuana garden with your credit card. These credit card purchases are logged, and can easily be traced back to you.

5. Don't use burglar alarms. A main reason for this is that cops will come in case your burglar alarms go off, and it won't take them long to realize that you have a marijuana growing facility in your house. If the burglars take your plants, let them do so - it's better to start growing a new set of marijuana plants than to spend time in jail.

6. Since orange light coming out of your growing room in the middle of the night is a bit odd for your neighbors to see, keep in mind to check periodically for light leaks around your growing room. Heavy curtains can be taped on the walls surrounding your growing room so as to prevent 100-watt orange lighting leaking out of your indoor growing facility. You can also purchase panda plastic, which is thick plastic, white on one side, and black on the other side. Taping it to the wall surrounding the window casing with duct tape is very effective.

7. If the cops come knocking on your door, politely ask for a search warrant before opening the door. There's no need for you to open the door before they show you their search warrant. Whatever they say, don't let them in or even open the door if they don't have a search warrant. The only thing that they need to get is a whiff of marijuana from your house so as to come barging in your door with or without a search warrant.

8. Avoid hot and smelly air pouring out of your indoor marijuana growing room. In addition, insulate the walls of your growing room in order for the light to avoid directly touching the walls. Police IR helicopters can detect unusual heat coming from houses, so maintaining the natural room temperature of your indoor growing room from the outside can prevent police busts.

9. Do not discard used soil and plant materials in your garbage bins. Throw the bags in your trunk and dipose of them elsewhere, like in the trash container behind the local mall

Good luck!!
