So I finally got to watch Kick ass yesterday.


What the hell?

I went in there assuming it would be just another teen comedy/slight action flick.


I was wrong!

Firstly, I didn't know it was from the same guy that made Layercake, but it just drips off, the way the music builds up towards action packed scenes,the general vibe in the movie, the awesomely funny dialogues (Mindy's first action scene, 'Alright,cunts' cracked me UP!).


This movie starts off all funny and teen comedy like but then turns into this great,dark adventure with a hell of a lot of good stuff happening all along the road.

In my opinion Cage was AWESOME 'child, go to KRYPTONITEEE' fucking hell, I never saw the grittiness or darkness coming!

The story itself is awesome too, how everything is interwoven, and I love that fact that they actually kept it 'realistic', realistic as in no superpowers, just an ex- cop with his highly trained murderous 11 year old daughter and Kick ass, some random average dude that gets fed up with how the world works.

Also the message about standing around when you see bad stuff happening to others, fuck yeah man.


I can say this is, to me, one of the best movies of the year so far.

Well yeah, he got wolverined with the plates in his body.

But the scene where he's talking and he says 'if you think this is one of those hollywood flicks where everything turns out great and I don't die, think again' is simply awesome man. Pure art.

With the stroboscope thing on the handgun, I was just going 'oooOOOH' while the scene unraveled.


Seriously awesome.

every scene with her was just highlarious...

Yeah man, I was completely blown away by it.

And as Lateefa said, all scenes with Mindy (hit girl) and Big Daddy were SHEER GLORY !!!

The fact that it is multilayered, firstly the happy go lucky start where it's more of a teenage flick, then turns into this funny batman-esque 'here's your villain' thing and then it becomes so fucking dark and gritty, shit.


Vaughn is awesome, Layercake was one of those movies too, a lot of different things going on and a lot of different feelings.

He is also supergood with music man, every single track played in Kick ass fitted perfectly to the scene, built up towards the action and generally made some scenes feel like 'HELL YEAH MAN KILL THOSE FUCKERS' haha.

Loved it.

haha i watched this last night... was way better than i was expecting... i wouldnt give it a ten... but it was definitely entertaining and well worth the watch
