I should probably begin by explaining that I am not a fan of Ewan. He was wicked in trainspotting and the janitor, decent in the star wars efforts...but after seeing him in a more true Ewan MCgregor portrait, with his 'comical, affable' mate charlie boringman, riding around the world in their two wheeled steeds, i grew quickly to despise him, and for me, ever since then, he has ranked as a Bono like character of the acting realm. but more manly, gritty. Bono loves the world and feels loved by the world, watching him on a latest dvd at my sisters place last sunday, on repeat for 3 fucking hours, has given me a nasty stomach bug. anyway...i will save that rant for another time. Ewan can act...but in this Polanski flick, he seems stale, even uninterested, and is upstaged by Brosnan and tom wilkinson (who always impresses me). Its a rather predictable political thriller which hardly moved me in any way whatsoever.
