I've read this book a while back. It was complex yet interesting at some points... overall I wouldn't say it's necessarily an essential read but to each his own I suppose.

In all fairness it probably would've had a more profound effect on me had I not read other similar literature beforehand.

This book turned me onto Huxley's other book called the Perennial Philosophy which then turned me on to a whole world of spirituality. What similar literature had you read before this one?

Erowid's experiences vault. Granted; while most of the experiences are nowhere near as analytical and complex as Doors, it still showed me for the first time the profound effects substances can have on consciousness.
