germinating seeds

OK Ive got a good amount of seeds, and really I can only grow 4 plants. Its kind of a limited amount of space... The temperature for my spot was 76 degrees, which isnt really good considering its not going to get any warmer later this year... so I put some insulation behind the crappy little walls... All i need now is the lights, soil and im set.

Im going to get started germinating them now can someone recommend a better way of doing this. There are so many ways and the one Im used to is putting it in moist paper towels, which has a good chance of drying out. Theres a better way right >_<

edit: This might be a good chance to tell everyone I dont have the internet anymore.... those ComCast bastards fuckin ripped me off, not to mention LIED... Now Ive got to buy a new IP, and I have no clue how much they want for that.

How To Germinate Your Marijuana Seeds

Moisture & Heat
85 - 90 degrees F is best and required to make the seed germinate. For good germination, lay a few layers of paper towels in a dish.

Place seeds in center of dish. Lay 2 or 3 layers of paper towels on top of the seeds. Moisten with sterilized water (boil it).

Place dish/bowl in warm area or by heat or atop a heating pad. This is true also if you germinate seeds in rockwool, Oasis cubes, or other medium, keep it moist and warm.

NEVER, NEVER LET THE SEEDS DRY OUT!!

Do NOT use bleach or mix bleach with the water. Who started this rumour? Some crazy jive ass fool, I'll bet.

USING BLEACH WILL KILL YOUR SEEDS!!

When the seeds sprout, and the white shoot emerges, transplant (root down) into your soil or rockwool or whatever medium you are working with. Treat very gently, don't break the root tip.

Some seeds take up to 12 days to start germination, but most will germinate within 24 to 72 hours. Be patient, give your valuable seeds a chance to sprout before tossing them out.

Do not let seeds dry out - place Saran Wrap over the dish and store in a dark place. Add small quantities of water when needed to keep moist.

Germination Techniques
I have been experimenting with seed germination each time someone complains of seed non-germination. I have discovered some very interesting things.

Some varieties of seeds will not germinate in moisture (between paper towels or in water itself or in moistened rockwool or moistened vermiculite) at room temperature but germinate fine at 90 degrees, about 20 degrees higher than room temperature.

I took the Golden Triangle Thai, Mikado (Federation), Dutch Treat and placed 20 seeds in a moistened porcelain bowl with sterile water, seeds between paper towels (plastic wrap over bowl to keep in moisture) and left them in a cupboard. The temp there was 68 degrees on average.

I took 20 each of the same 3 strains and put them in between paper towels moistened with sterile water (with plastic wrap over the bowls too keep in all moisture) right above an electric baseboard heater where the measurable temperature was 90 - 92 degrees.

In the first group, The Golden Triangle Thai had 2 germinate out of 20, Mikado had 3 out of 20, Dutch Treat had 4 out of 20, and these took up to 4 days to pop.

In the second hotter group, 9 of 20 Golden Triangle popped within 5 days, 15 Mikado popped within 72 hours, and 12 Dutch Treat popped within 96 hours.

Wow, I was so impressed, and yet at the same time fascinated that I had never heard of this before. All these strains are equatorial in origin, so they need hot weather conditions to pop (like in nature where they come from, I imagine).

The Mikado had swollen to about twice their size, and the Golden Triangle and Dutch Treat increases in size by about 50%, allowing a vigorous shoot to emerge.

I haven't tested this on other strains, typically I always just put 'em in the cupboard and they pop, but now I am going to do some tests on old seeds, various new seeds, and see what happens at higher temperatures.

like i said in my first post I know I can use moist paper towels but it just doesnt seem right to dispense all my seeds in the trust of a fuckin paper towel... If it doesnt work then I have to wait until i get another group of seeds, and i would just rather plant it NOW... If anyone finds a good way of germinating seeds with a good outcome rate please share the info

YES, one of my seeds germinated!!! Its day 2 and Im getting ready to transfer the seed to the bucket... Still 4 more seeds left though...

Seriously, Jus get paper towel, Fold it up so its thick, And get it damp and put seeds inside of it. Keep it damp, And within a couple days they should be germinating. Everytime ive done it its worked fine. One time even forgot about it for 4 days, And it ended up with like 3-4 inches of roots comin out.

um... anyway. They're actually growing now, ive got one light above 2 plants. Would anyone here reccommend getting 1 light for each plant. it is REALLY bright in there with just the 1 light, its not even that close to the plants. now all Ive got to do is wait... and you can count on me coming here for help as soon as i fuck up

its the only one I could find that you can move around freely... not a fluorescent light its one of those cone ones with a bulb in the middle, i dont know the wattage or bulb size
