Absinthe! 55mg thujone/750ml.

I didn't drink that much; that's the concentration. I've had 4 glasses.

Absinthe blows.

I went to Wurstfest last night and drank a pitcher of Spaten Oktoberfest to myself and then another beer on top of that. Continued drinking at a bar with my buddy. I was gooooone. Ended up eating my last two hits of acid in the middle of the night. It was pretty fun to come to my senses from the alcohol and be out of my senses on acid.

American absinthe blows. Thujone content is restricted here, so you have to make it or buy Czech. It's only CZ absinthe these days that is known to have a high thujone content.

I think I was drunk when I posted this topic as there is an alcoholic sticky at the top of the page.

Couldn't agree more. My father's Czech and the first time I ever tried Absinthe was in the Czech Republic... I literally hallucinated. Love the stuff.
I saw on TV today, this man lost his son, his son died...
So he had him cremated, took his ashes, and then made it into a Diamond ring...
Now he watches his son shine every day.
I just thought about that, while I sit here ashing in this ashtray...

Really now? I thought all that stuff about thujone being psychedelic was just myth. Now I wouldn't be surprised if the buzz is different from a typical alcohol buzz, but not psychedelic. Thujone acts on GABA receptors like alcohol or GHB, I still don't see it being anything more than a depressant. Psychedelics typically act on 5HT2 (serotonin) receptors. Dissociatives like salvia or PCP act on kappa opioid receptors. Deliriants act on acetylcholine receptors.

Phar.macologically I just don't get it, and it's so disputed that I don't believe it's true. I've never had absinthe make me hallucinate (maybe it was American, not sure it wasn't mine) and I despise the taste of licorice so it's just nasty high proof alcohol to me.

EDIT: lol wtf have to put periods in it to not censor Pharmacologically. I don't get why it's censored, I think most of us can spot spam when we see it.

When I say hallucinate I don't mean seeing smiling zebras running across the bathroom wall. My apologies for using the term loosely. What I was referring to was more of, say, the ring of light you get in your vision after someone takes a picture and the flash disrupts your vision. My senses were heightened and my vision definitely was altered. I wouldn't say it was a placebo effect either because I was not expecting anything of the sort. I will admit that this hasn't always happened though so perhaps it's a matter of how much is consumed? But yeah, regardless of whether or not I have hallucinated when drinking absinthe the buzz is certainly unique when compared to any other liquor... I consider it a delicacy. The taste isn't great but I wouldn't expect anything that's 70% alcohol to taste good anyway.

The absinthe buzz damn sure is unique. It's much more of a clear-headed feeling than normal alcohol and as with psychedelics, you just can't explain it properly. Good absinthe is definitely worth a try.

As for the 70% comment: traditionally, it's not had straight. It's usually diluted with water poured over a sugar cube, causing a louche (oils precipitating from the solution).

This is very true! My bad. I won't lie though I have had it both straight as well as diluted. The first time however, which I still consider to be my favorite experience with absinthe, it was diluted.

Been drinking alot of rum and vodka as of late...and getting black out drunk. Went on a binder (errr binge?) for four days this week with the boyfran. We've decided to cool it on the hard stuff.

Sipping on a budlight right now. So happy to finally have music at my finger tips and WG. YAYYY>
