whats the difference between a spliff and a joint?

i ve always wondered what is the differecne between a joint and a spliff?and also what exactly is a L?

I never even thought of the difference between the words before, but looking at them Im thinking maybe spliff is just a rolled up cannabis cigarette, and joint is a multiple skin spliff, as in joined up... joined... joint.

an L is the arrangement of the second (or last) skin in a joint, where it joins the previou skin in an L shape, rather than a straight line

Basically I hear more Europeans calling them spliffs and more americans calling them joints. I'd never heard them called spliffs before I got on this board.

A spliff and a joint is the same thing,I usually call it a joint but a few of my mates say spliff.Well that is the case where I am.
