As a pseudo activist on this topic I felt it a tad necissary to post this - don't hate me for it.
Just because today you don't look at the same sex and see possibilities does not mean you will not do so later. There is no such thing as a 'chemical balance' in any sense of the term that causes depression, homosexuality or anything that people are looking for an excuse for. Homosexuality is not a choice people make because they want sex. Homosexuality is not a thing people do because they enjoy fashion or develop a lisp. 10% of the population is gay. But that 10% population are openly gay - some people don't fill out polls. I would suspect that there are far more homosexuals in the world than people might think. You guys remember what happened in Frisco? (donno bout you kids over the pond, but perhaps you have) All those people going to get married... going across the country NY-SF... it's a big jump.
Anyway, what I'm saying is that statistics are bullshit because there is no way to poll the entire world or even an entire nation and garauntee that you have honest responses or impartial representation.
People can be gay without wanting to be. People can be straight without wanting to be.
Either way they're just people.

Why be real when life is fake? Your friends are fake, your parents are fake, your job is fake - it's all a facade to distract us from what's real. So why be real when you could be a Real Life Fake?
Depression can be caused by a chemical imbalance, but I'm guessing that the vast majority of people on Prozac, Paxil, etc., don't really have the physiological-type of depression. They're just suffering from stress or traumatic experiences. I know that wasn't really the point of your post. I just thought it was noteworthy.
