First of all, you're getting ripped. Second of all, don't let him know you a beginner. Third, don't ever pay for shit more than 10$ a gram, unless it's some bomb shit, but even then, you couldn't tell, you'z a beginner.

Make sure what he sells you is nuggets, "flowers", buds or whatever, not leaves. Leaves don't get you high for shit (well, maybe they will make YOU, but either way it's schwag and you getting ripped, and shouldn't be paying more than 2 dollars a gram). anyhow, if you living in Canada, you getting ripped, and if you living in the US, you getting laughed at. GL with that, and try to get some decent shit bro. Oh and, by the way, if you buy a 3.5 it will be more economic usually, and will look like you know the shit more than you actually do. and please for god's sake if he tells you 35$ tell him are you crazy, you trynna ripp me off off 10-15 bucks fool!? If you get an 8th be sure to put it in a good ziplock bag and when you seal it suck the air out of the band to keep it fresher longer, you know vacuum seal without the vacuum machine just your lungs, and it also lowers the smell through the bag if you need to hide it.

The best ways for seeing if the buds are good without smoking it is smell, looks, how wet/dry it is. How tight the buds are. And of course the price. Because you know the best bud is free bud.
