Success! The transistor ran out of juice and it stopped chirping. I smoked my room up and now I'm pretty fucking fucked up.

the transistor probably didnt run out, hopefully the smoke will clear soon. transistors dont run out, they are a component on the circuit board that transforms electrical pulses into sound, ie the chirping. if u know what ur doing go in and remove the transistor. expose the circuit board (with power off) locate transistor, and either destroy it or remove it, u may need electrical tools to remove it, so burn it with ur lighter or something. MAKE SURE POWER IS OFF or you may get zapped.

actually the component that transforms electrical pulses into sound would be a piezo buzzer. A transister is indeed a component of a circuit board, but it has nothing to do with powering it. A transistor is a semiconductor device, commonly used as an amplifier or an electrically controlled switch. The defining feature of a transistor is the fact that is always has three leads.


anyway, I'm gonna shut up now, but if anyone wants to know any more about this stuff just let me know.

edit: I just realized that picture was annoyingly large. its gone now. Oh and one more thing, most transistors now are very very small. so small that they would look like a little white bump on the circut board.

The way I disabled the last smoke detector that wouldn't shut up was by running over it with my truck! And it was done by a customers specific request! It was in a box and wouldn't stop beeping and we couldn't get it open to remove the batteries. She said 'run over it with the truck' I was like 'what? really?" Yes...really. she wrapped it in a towel and shoved it in front of the wheels. It was rather funny

Yeah i was gonna post and say smoke up cuz if i rember correctly smoke dectors wont go off for regular weed type smoke. it require other type of smoke to set them out.

like i think it has to be a type of weed that will ioniz to the scencer.

Ya I have never had a smoke detector go off because of toking and I have had the place smoked out to where you can't see your feet. Just doesn't go off.
