Re: Purplera1n Grow Journel - Budget
One thin I will note is that you may want to find a way to get the bulbs even lower and they work best on their side. With CFLs because they arent hot, you can just bend some plastic, cover it in mylar, and use that as a light reflector. The lights can easily go down another inch. You want to maximize all the light you have by getting them as close as possible because your using a pretty low wattage CFL setup

I've actually read multiple places that mixing spectrums on your plants will help out growth. I wouldn't recommend buying only 23 watt bulbs though, they are incredibly weak for CFL's and would serve no purpose in flowering stage. I would highly suggest getting some more watts for lighting if you decide upgrade... My suggestion would be to go with the most wattage as you can (I used a 65 watt 2700k CFL added extra on my first indoor grow and it really helped)

2700K can definitely help but as he only has 2-3 lights now, lights in the proper vegetating spectrum will be of much more help. I started my plants with CFL, I had 3 6700, 1 2700, 1 5000. Eventually I left out the 2700 because my light only had spots for four bulbs. I would say you want at least 3 good 6700K bulbs or 80w of 6700K light (you can find them with 46w each, much better) before considering an additional bulb be it 5000K or 2700K.
edit: i just read through again and - hes using only 2700Ks right now? Add in some 6700K!!!

oh shit, yeah I didn't even notice that... I keep forgetting how low wattage this is... yeah 6500k bulbs for this low of wattage only. I'm still sticking with if you have a decent amount of wattage of 6500k per plant, it's best to add in a different spectrum as plants thrive on ALL of them during each phase, it's just they need certain amounts of each

Re: Purplera1n Grow Journel - Budget
Thankyou for positive feedback! Really Higher? I honestly thought there would be loads!
Anyway, Here is a photo of one of them i took today. I clipped the bottom leaves off due to they didn't look exactly okay and i noticed doing a little clipping with the round leaves (the first 2 little leaves when sprouting) and instead of going back to normal and growing the same as they did before, instead of 2 round leaves either side it's sprouting out spikey 'cannabis leaves', little mini ones from were i cut it.
18-19 days old

I fed them Ammonia Sulphate four days ago, they have chirped up famously and have started to smell very potent for the past 2 days. Can't see any budding whatsoever, just searching for were the smell is coming from!

Re: Purplera1n Grow Journel - Budget
Should have pruned the bottom leaves a little closer to the stem...
All the new growth will be in the 5 or 7-blade leaf style. Once a plant reaches a mature growing pattern it will maintain this pattern. A clone from a mature plant starts growing with all full size leaves from the get-go. The 2 initial leaves you cut off were initial leaves, the first two sets are 1-blade, then 3, then 5, once they are full size all are full size.
That growth you see coming from the stem by the leaf you cut, would have been there even if you didnt cut those leaves. Notice at all the junctions where a main stem has another stem, there is new growth developing?
It may have been best to just leave the leaves until they died on their own and fell off, if they were the initial two leaves. Ive noticed a lot of my early growth leaves have showed yellowing. I believe it was Higher who said it was best to just leave them until they are totally dead. I have been doing this and once the entire leaf is yellow-brown I cut it off.

Ya it's best to leave the yellowing bottom leaves on, especially when the plant is so young. Later on however you may need and want to prune lower leaves for several different reasons
If the plant needs nitrogen it will take it from the lower leaves and use it in the rest of the plant. It self feeds itself. When the nitrogen is being sucked out thats what causes the yellowing, so until it's dead there is useful nutrient reserves in the plant for it to feed itself

Watched the City-Everton match Monday night, they mentioned it was -6 in the ground, pitch was ok like many of the prem grounds its just safety of fans getting there thats the issue at momment, 6 inches of snow here and freezing, dont look good for the weekend but who knows,we might get a few games to watch.
Ive supported Spurs since the Greaves Gilzean era,a long time with nothing to shout about, and a long time to be the butt of all my mates jokes. My only claim to fame is that ive supported them all these years through thick and thin and thin and thin...... lol.

Re: Purplera1n Grow Journel - Budget
LOL That was funny!
I've inspected the plants, they are healthy, no yellow anywere and growing rapidly. They smell like hell and for like 2 weeks, I must be doing something right. With some research I did however find that what I did was unwise but thankfully not a grave issue apparently.
They are very bushy, all 3 of them. But to be honest I want some hieght with that bushy-ness.
They have a very fruity smell, almost like bubblegum? :S Producing crystal like substance on the leaves, lush green all around.
I was thinking of making hash out of them, im so unsure what I should do with the hopeful harvest?
I want to get as much quantity from my plants. I just got some Morocan Hash, It's beautiful and the smell is divine and very clean. I have missed hash so much in this country, most of it is skunk. The grade of hash I have, I'd say is low, I'm not sure. It does the job fine, it's just not as powerful as I remember other bits i've had were.
But as i said, i want quantity from this attempt with the little that i have. A fair bit.
I'm enjoying this budget grow, I'm finding the plants anatomy very interesting and it's pretty cool, because it's going so well so far.
