I just made one, but is it necessary to clean out the brown crap inside of the metal part of the bulb?

Man, I can't wait to try it.

I would clean it properly with warm water and soap so that you dont inhale any chemical shit

soap isnt good for cleaning pipes, 420cleaner is the best

One more question: has anyone had a problem with the glass breaking? I'm trying to get my friend to try this thing out with me but he's convinced the glass will explode from the heat.

AHHAAHAHAHA! Ever touch a light bulb when it's on? It's EXTREMEMLY hot, so I wouldn't worry about it breaking unless you squeeze it really hard or something.

aobut it breaking....so far I've made 3...the first one my friend brought to school andafter smoking out of it a bit this other guy ralph...he tapped it gently with a lighter to get the half burned pot in a centralized pile and the bottom fell off the vaporizer, the 2nd one I forgot in someones car..and the 3rd one we were trying to empty to put more in and we were being very careful and it just shattered... so they are I repet ARE very breakable and don't tap them anywhere while hot...also don't run hot glass under cold water I am sure someones seen that chef tony commercial where they put a cold glass dish on a hot baking pan right out of the oven well the same thing happens here

and for anyone thats used it how do you rate your high, like from 1 to 10, or compared to other ways of smoking (and i know this isnt really smoking, but you know what i mean)?

Its shit. Even the description is contradictory, one element to consider when using a vaporizer is that no smoke at all should be produced. If anything you should see a condensation or very light steam. I tried making one of these (I knew it was a shit idea, I just wanted to make sure)and cleaned it too perfection. The glass on a lightbulb (like the one suggested in this thread) is far too thin. Causing the weed to heat up too much too fast, causing it to combust. Also alot of people wont have the patience to wash out all of the chemicals, all of which are very harmful in lightbulbs. ITs a fucking nutters idea, an idea which I would suggest is unfit for a 13 year old chav called lisa anne marie brittany platinum smith, from Welwyn Garden City.
Save up and buy an electronic vaporiser.

OR

a generally better (but still clearly flawed) design for a homemade is:

1. Get a pringles can/container. Cut off the bottom 4inches/10cm or so (with the metal base). Make an air release hole in it for your thumb (or some blocking device), to go over when heating the weed.

2. Get a bottle and chop the bottom off, keep the top bit (not too big, about 15cm/6inch in height) and stick it on the top of the pringles can/container, making sure its completely airtight (this is a point I cannot stress enough)

I find a robinsons cordial bottle is the only one which fits perfectly. If you live somewhere where this is unavailable just search for something which does fit.

3. Put weed on the metal bit on the inside. Heat with a candle, from a distance of about 5-7cm/2-3inches. for about half an hour. then release the air hole and toke in. There should be a light vapour, a very strong taste, and a quick high. The weed should not appear burnt (makbye a bit singed or a different colour) after (you can smoke it in spliff but, if the vaporiser worked properly, it shouldnt produce a high)

TO THE PERSON WHO CREATED THIS THREAD, PLEASE CONSIDER THE IDEA WHICH YOU HAVE SUGGESTED AGAIN. TRY THIS, ITS MUCH HEALTHIER.

p.s. the longer you heat the weed for the better, be patient and dont get over exited and burn the weed, otherwise its just a shit, slow pipe.

I like to use mouthwash for anything I smoke with...

It cleans really well, makes what your cleaning taste minty, everyones got it and you know its not that bad for you
