It sounds nothing like cds. Search google for an explanation on how the compression works and you'll see why, they add tones to the sound to mask all the noise added to the music through the compression (well put simply anyway) so your ears are fooled and you don't hear the noise but it has messed with the sound file so it isn't the same. If you listen on a proper hifi system you'll hear it straight away. Plus its full of distortion and errors from all the processing it has to go through. MP3's sound crap and they always will.
