My parents in all their wisdom have decided to emigrate at the end of next year to Israel. Their both nearly retired and want to take up the offer to emigrate. It leaves me in the shit because they want me to go out there with them when i finish my studies. Its scaring the crap out of me cause it aint safe out there. I dont know what to do..........

Tell them the truth: You don't want to go there, and you won't
tell them you'll visit them on holidays

Its not as simple as that. I dont want them thousands of miles away in a relatively hostile place. Not many other members of our immediate family live out there.
But i know their more than likely gona be placed in the West Bank, and if i do take citizenship i will have to do 6months military service.
What a bombshell to drop over the phone

Well....do you know why they want to move out there?? For their retirement?
Talk it over with them, let them know how you feel.
I understand why you dont wanna go there..I wouldn't either!

Want to move for their retirement and basically experience living in a jewish community which is hard to do in Britain unless you live in a city.
I have talked it over with them, they are moving whether i go or not. They've asked my brother and sister to go aswel and im waitin on their decisions. If either of them goes, i will aswel.
Im shit scared about the way this is all lookin

I think the missing element here is "how old are you?"
If you are an adult (18 in the USA - where are you living now?) you can simply elect not to become an Isreali citizen, and stay where you are, and do what 99% of the people of the world do, and support yourself however you can.
If you are a minor, your parents generally (in the US) can tell you what to do, where to go. etc.
You can elect to become an "emancipated minor" by going to the court and asking a judge to consider the merits of your case - your age, your abilities, your education, your plans instead of moving to Israel, and the judge will consider these and can basically free you from any parental control. This has happened to minors of ages 16, 17 without too much effort - you dont need a lawyer or anything, just go to the courthouse, get the paperwork from the clerk of court, and fill it out, they will charge you a small fee ($30) and give you a hearing date.
Finally, I believe that the Israeli mandatory military service is not 6 months, it is two years. You must serve, it is not a volunteer army. Both men and women serve in the armed forces in Isreal. The odds of your parents moving to the West Bank are slim - Israel has agreed to withdraw from the West Bank - its been on the news for weeks - some Israeli settlers tried to stay and were removed by the army. They are no longer formally occupying the West Bank according to the recent accords that were signed with the representitives of Israel and the Palestine government. Only a few "outlaw" families - I think its like 25 or so, still live there.
I would personally love the opportunity to get a citizenship anywhere else but the US - of course Israel is not exactly New Zealand, but its not Fucking George Bush Cocksuckerville.
Goo, US Citizen and pissed as hell at my government

Durka your posts just keep getting worst.
And MOT, await your siblings choice.
Wouldnt it be a big up if your siblings decided to go? Then you wouldnt have to worry so much about your parents on there own, they would have more people they would know and be looked out for.

What the hell kind of racist comment did he make? Higher could you PM me what that was about?
Im 21, so not a minor. I know i dont have to go if i dont want to, its just if my whole family relocates i dont want to be away from them. Military service is only 6months for people who have dual citizenship, such as i will. Israel may have agreed not to settle anymore citizens in the West Bank but the last family we know to have emigrated out there was settled there and that was 3 months ago.
My sister and her husband have decided to move with their baby. Looks increaqsingly likely that i will move out there.

I'd never move to somewhere that deemed it manditory to serve in the armed forces. Not even if it meant living on the other side of the world to the rest of my family.
