question about tolerance

Post by Treewizard247 »

I have come to this forum because A. i really liked the wide list of topics on here and it seems like a relaxing and trustworthy environment and B. i need some advice some fellow stoners so here is my situation.

I have been smoking weed since i was 15 years old, and i am 21 now. When i was younger it wasn't as readily available to me as it is now (schoolwork, parents, etc.) but now since I've gotten older and have more money/independence weed has become a "must have" part of my daily routines, which before i go any further is not the problem in any way shape or form. Anyway, for the past 2 years or so i suppose roughly since the time i moved out on my own I've been smoking heavily. Usually 5-6 times a day during the week days and easily 10+ times daily on the weekends off work. When i really sat down and thought about it i realized that most of the time there isn' t even a 5 hour break between sessions and this has been the norm for me for quite some time. I am sure most of you can see where this topic is going, my problem is that when i smoke weed regardless of whether or not its mine or a buddies or who i pick up off of i don't get stoned at all. again, after some serious thought which I've been trying to do more of lately i realized that obviously i have a really high tolerance for THC and the cannabinoid receptors in my brain are probably quite desensitized, so i thought that maybe it would be in my love for weed's best interest to give it a break because it has gotten to a point where marijuana is a complete waste of money and i don't want it to down like that, i love weed. i don't have many friends who are stoners and no one i know smokes as frequently as i do so I am a little lost and was wondering if anyone here could shed some light on a few things

1. at this point would taking a break even do anything for me
2. how long of a break should i take
3. any other useful information

i don't need to pass a drug test or anything like that so im not just looking for a quick fix, I am willing to be patient and do what it takes to bring myself to a point where i can enjoy being stoned as fuck again.

thank you for taking the time to read my post

I would say a 2 week break from weed is a pretty good starting point. You should feel the full effects after then. Good luck in your quest man!

Thanks so much for those links higher, In one swift post you answered all my queries. I really like the first articles explanation of the term "permastone" before i always thought it was a silly myth that people who didnt smoke weed said about stoners but now i believe im a tad bit permastoned myself. The second article was also informative enough and ive decided im going to take at least a 30 day break, thanks again to all who replied and thanks for the warm welcome

thanks again for the fast and helpful response, I am definitely feeling the vibe of this community. I am gonna take a 30 day break and afterward follow up on a "4/20" method i read about (20 days on, 4 days off) and limit my smoking a time of day when ill actually enjoy it as opposed to constantly and not feeling anything. Have a good night all.

Good luck with that, let us know how things are :)
Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

first off, treewizard is an awesome name.

second off...

i know how you feel.

I could really go for a tolerance break myself. I always find myself smoking in the morning, before meals, before running errands, before doing laundry.....

gee wiz... If i took off for thirty days and then took a bong hit i would be so gone lol!

wow i cant believe people were still posting on this thread....thanks again for the warm response and the helpful tips. Well its been 23 days and while that is a little bit shy of a month i decided it was long enough and wow....you'll have to excuse my language as all articulation is lost on me at the moment but i' am so fucking high i still cant believe it. I caved today when one of my work mates heard about my tolerance break and offered me up a 2 paper joint; now before my break i could have killed it myself in minutes and strolled back to work no problem, but after work him and I lit up on our way to the bus stop....half way through i forgot we were smoking a joint and i am sure you all know how it goes from there. To everyone else who has posted on this thread talking about taking a break themselves, if you were serious i STRONGLY encourage it. Forgive me now as the name of the poster escapes me but the guy who was talking about smoking weed before laundry, meals etc. that was me in a nutshell and at the start something like 3-4 week break seems almost impossible but i couldn't be more pleased with the results. all it takes is a little will power and for me just keeping the end goal in mind. Plus, its easier on your wallet and gave me time to clean my pipes, bongs etc and restock on screens, papers, and what not. Lastly, i wanted to again thank everyone on this website for your support and informative nature that helped me make the best decision i have made in quite some time, now if you' ll excuse me i m going to attempt to finish this joint and hit the fridge.
