Soooo for the past few days I've been lethally ill... Whenever I get sick, it pretty much lasts a week and is pretty horrible to endure. I thought it would be cool to have a thread discussing your various viewpoints as to whether or not you, on a personal level, enjoy smoking while sick. Right now I have a cold, but I guess we could discuss all types of illnesses such as the flu, stomach problems, the common cold, etc.

To throw my two cents into the topic, when I'm sick I pretty much despise the thought of smoking. However once I smoke, I usually do not regret it. The main difference I see is that I smoke a much smaller amount and usually only toke up once or twice max a day. All I can really do is lay down after I smoke but it does make the day go by much faster!

I kind of have mixed emotions on the topic, none of which are based on scientific fact. Part of me feels like smoking slows down the healing process, but without smoking a small joint here and there throughout the illness it would be much more painful to endure. As I'm posting the topic I'm sick and sober, but I'll be sure to post again later should I decide to light up!

What are your thoughts?

Hm..I kinda think the exact opposite..depending on what kind of illness I have....that smoking weed helps the healing process.

I know nothing about it though..that's just how I feel about it.

im the same as andria sept sometimes it clogs my nose up wich is weird since ive never have and am not allergic to anything...but usually it passes fast or may even breath better.

i just cant smoke a cig if i feel ill at all i dont smoke much and if i do that illget really light headed and sicker

I've smoked when I was sick. I find it helps calm your stomach when it's upset. I've also smoked when my lungs were wrecked with a cold/flu...and it isn't that pleasant, and probably not the best idea.

But it's really hard to say. When you have fluid/mucus in your lungs, you would get medicine with an exportant in it to loosen the phlegm and allow you to cough it up. So I'm not sure if smoking weed would hinder that process by the tars binding themselves to your mucus and make it more difficult for you lungs to clear? Or, if smoking would actually act as an exportant by causing you to cough more than usual?

Either way, I'd still smoke while sick...but like Chris said, limit your intake to much less than what you'd normally inhale.

the pros of being stoned far outweigh the cons of smoke inhalation while sick, in my mind at least.


but a few weeks ago when i was sick as a fucking dog. horrible chest infection and ran a fever for a week. i could not smoke any weed. the coughing hurt so fucking much. honestly felt like i was dying. i still smoked cigs so, but very few and very slowly

i really don't mind smoking when i am sick - i even smoked when i had my wisdom teeth pulled out.
And no infection - anything as bad as the dentists mentioned about smoking.

I just really hate to smoke when my throat is irritated.

yeah i tend to smoke when sick unless i'm reall really bad.

but if I've got the stomach the flu and I'm throwing up a lot the weed relieves that problem.

But i only smoke a little bit, not enough to get super out there or anything.

Yeah I agree that smoking weed definitely helps the healing process in that it can make me feel a lil better while the buzz is active. I just meant that weed weakens your immune system and so you may feel better while toking but you're likely to be sick a little bit longer!

Seeing as I usually feel horribly horrible when I'm sick though, I almost always end up toking up at some point... even if it's simply as a last resort to do anything to feel different than I do. Maybe it's just because I'm getting older (!) but I no longer ever FEEL like smoking at any point while I'm sick... I don't crave mary jane mentally as much I used to in general anyway but during illness I no longer ever do.

I smoke, but you have to make sure you're smoking good or great weed. Schwag is fucking miserable when you're sick.

Apologies for bumping my old thread, but once again I'm sick and just observed something... I've been sick for a few days but haven't been smoking and it has not been as bad as usual. Now that I've smoked for the first time in a few days, I definitely notice my cold a lot more. I don't really feel horrible or anything but as I said it's definitely more noticeable. The positives are definitely outweighing the negatives though .

when i am poorly...i cut down the vodka to nothingness, but stick to the greenery.

my doctor buddy said that smoking while having a mild cold can be good as the coughing and then relaxtion of your lungs and muscles can clear them, and allow more blood flow to your muscles allowing them to feel better/less tight...

i dont really get sick very often so i dont know

i would never drink if i'm sick - even in hell.
