Depends have you ever squated before? what is your weight are you in shape..... The bar rests on your shoulders if thats what your wondering, while your squatting don't use them little pads that go over the shoulder area of the bar they are more harmful then they are helpful.
So rest the bar on your shoulders and put your arms and hands up and grap a hold of the bar.

Yes deff try and see whats comfterable.Shwoot wrote:Umm I'm 160lbs, I usually do 70 pushups before taking a break, I've never used weights to work out, umm, I jog.... Yeah, I know nothing about weights. Should I just try shit and see what feels comfortable?
When starting out with squats i wouldnt even use any weight, Jus your body weight. Then move up to jus a barbell.
Squats are a great workout, But boy they can hurt.
If you over do them, Which you can very easliey without knowing it. You'll be in a world of pain the next day. Ive done them like that, And the next day i could barley walk, Honestly.

^so true. My legs were sore for like 3-4 straight days. But at the same time I was glad I was getting progress done. Just make sure you got the technique down before you start doing any serious weight. And if you do an exercise like the bench press or squat, try to get a spotter. That way you can do as many reps as you possibly can without killing yourself. I usually do the bench till I need a little help from my spotter to get the bar back up. But if your by yourself, be careful and don't put those things on the bar that keeps the weights from falling off, that way you can slide the weights off if you cant push the bar back up.

Oh god I know exactly what yall mean. I have this class called team sports, obviously sports is supposed to be the focus, but half the time the coaches are lazy and give us free days, leaving hoops, track, and what else, the pump room. Today I worked my ass off on every machine in that damn room, by 7th period each step up the stairwell was burning torture..ahhhhh fuck my whole body is killin me

Hes right on account that there a great workout, but your 160 pounds you should be able to do more then just the bar, When I started I was 180 and was using one 45 lb weight on each side. Now I'm up to 215 pounds and use anywhere from 3 to 4 plates on each side.BGDetroit wrote:Yes deff try and see whats comfterable.Shwoot wrote:Umm I'm 160lbs, I usually do 70 pushups before taking a break, I've never used weights to work out, umm, I jog.... Your right, I didnt really consider his weight. I dont know how much you could really handle at that weight.cutthecashflow wrote:Hes right on account that there a great workout, but your 160 pounds you should be able to do more then just the bar, When I started I was 180 and was using one 45 lb weight on each side. I've been told many, many times that I have the sheer size needed to be a huge mother focker. I'm 6'2" but I weigh 260-270. Ideally, I'd like to be at 190-200. I'd like to have some definition in my arms. I'd like to have biceps like this guy:

Okay...so he's a juice monkey. And I want to string colored tassels from my biceps. Aaaand wear the spandex briefs.

Squats are not something you want to do just from having someone tell you how to do it. You should be shown how to do it from a professional trainer. You can injure yourself severly if you don't have the correct stance.Shwoot wrote:Can somebody find me a website with a detailed description on how to do squats? or just tell me how to do it?
