Hi there,
What would be the best way to store some product long term? I have about 50g, it's tightly packed, it's mostly dry but it has a bit of moisture to it (not enough for me to call it 'fresh' but it's not crispy dry either). I chip away from it little by little but i expect it'll last a longer while.
Previously once when i had a larger amount i kept it in a dry dark place with lots of air and after a few months it got little bugs crawling in it. Another time, i kept a larger amount in a ziplock and sucked out the air from the ziplock to keep it airtight and that time i got mold all over it after a month.
I'd hate it to get ruined again so i'd much appreciate some advice, preferably from someone who has firsthand experience.
thanks a bunch
matt

Hey there. First of all welcome to the boards.
Second of all, the first place you stored your weed is pretty much the exact opposite of where you should have stored a large amount of weed. I have never had a large enough amount to do this but the best place to store your weed (if possible) would be in a refrigerator. Many people suggest leaving weed in their freezer but that can lead to freezer burn and other things such as mould growing on the weed. The main thing to keep in mind is that if you are going to store your weed in a fridge, then it's best to use an air tight container such as a mason jar... Baggies are not optimal because once again your weed might get damp and mould could grow on it seeing as the humidity levels are pretty high in a fridge and baggies are not air tight.
If you don't have an available fridge to store your weed in it because people would notice then maybe you could find another cool area to keep your weed? If you live in a cool climate, maybe your garage or something.
Weed's two enemies are oxidation and mold so in short the things to look out for when storing weed long term are:

- cool temperature
dark setting
surrounding it by the least amount of oxygen possible
I saw on TV today, this man lost his son, his son died...
So he had him cremated, took his ashes, and then made it into a Diamond ring...
Now he watches his son shine every day.
I just thought about that, while I sit here ashing in this ashtray...

Fuck man you don't even need to put it in the fridge. Just put it in an airtight jar or get you one of those food saver vacuum sealers.
I personally recommend checking oneself for OCD at least once every 5 minutes.

see, i had it airtight last time and within a month had to dump 40g cause there was mold all over it... but will give it a try again, the fridge seems like a good idea as well, thanks.Ikku wrote:Fuck man you don't even need to put it in the fridge. Thanks a bunch, ill give that a try. I'm thinking i'll leave it in the ziplock and put the ziplock inside some airtight tupperware, then put that in the fridge. thanks for the suggestion!SToNeR ChRiS wrote:Hey there. First of all welcome to the boards.

skip the ziplock bag dude
that just gives moisture more area to collect in.
and im thinking you might already have mold contaminated weed if it grows lots of mold after a month in an air tight canister
