well let's see...about...15% of our taxes goes to social security right?
I thought that the reason that later generations (my mom's) are getting less and less is because the money that's supposed to go to them, go to older generations because while the older generations were working and stuff the government pissed away all the money thinking they would have enough later.
So either way the government is at fault

I think drugs have done some good things for us, and if you don't believe me, do me a favor. Go home tonight and burn all your albums, tapes, and cd's. Because the musicians who made all that great music...rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreal fucking high on drugs.

I completely agree with that
You know the "No Child Left Behind" thing right
Well I found out that if a school does not support it, the government won't give them the extra funds they need in order to get supplies for the kids and stuff
So basically the government MAKES the school uphold the act

Bush's bighest contrbution to the public school system was the FCAT and that is the most pointless thing ever implemented in school. the teachers only teach what is on the FCAT and thats the only thing the kids now. then we have the stupid gordon rule for college which says you have to write a certain amount of words for each class. so prof. give these pointless essay that they wouldnt give before. i know Bush wasnt responsible for the gordon rule but its still a stupid rule.

Wait...so we have to write a certain amount of words in each college class?
I hope that changed by the time I get to college

OK now someone tell me that doesn't sound like Napoleon raising and educating the young pups in Animal Farm, only to later unleash them on the farm as his special police force. For anyone who hasn't read Animal Farm it is a complete sattire of Soviet Russia under Stalin's rule. I never before heard of this FCAT thing... and frankly it disturbs me. And that whole Gordon rule thing must just be put in place as a filler act so that students don't start asking questions and actually learning something, maybe something they're not supposed to. Sounds like a bunch of grade "A" horseshit to me.Weedguru DrGreenthumb wrote:Bush's bighest contrbution to the public school system was the FCAT and that is the most pointless thing ever implemented in school. the teachers only teach what is on the FCAT and thats the only thing the kids now. then we have the stupid gordon rule for college which says you have to write a certain amount of words for each class. so prof. give these pointless essay that they wouldnt give before. i know Bush wasnt responsible for the gordon rule but its still a stupid rule.
And yeah, in regards to your comment Slick where you qutoed me, if you finished reading the post I scoffed that claim you made at being the least in debt as being supportive because the fact is that the US has one of the greatest debts in the whole global economy, and it's never been higher in all of history than that debt is right now. I know DocGreen sorta explained that to you right after but I just wanted to clarify that personally. I do however appreciate your posts on this topic ^_^

Yeah my science teacher told us all that, at first I didn't think it was true because the U.S spends a crapload of money on shit, but I don't know
We're the richest country
We're the most in debt
whatever we suck
hahaha

yes Animal Farm is a great book and it deserves a review in our book section. one thing you are assuming is that history requirement is needed on the fcat. i have been asked a few times how the middle east is represented in public schools. i havevnt heard of anyone being taught a twisted view most times it isnt taught at all especially in the public school system where the priority is getting your students to pass the fcat.
in a way this is worse because what is learned is what people see in american media, that thought gives me shivers.

What's passed on to the youth these days is a Tailored Education, not the pure and essential knowledge and wisdom that should go along with that. They're being spoon fed a load of tampered truth. But you can't say that any truth is absolute because there is inherent falsness in all forms of truth because there is perspective atached to it.
What really needs to be getting passed on to todays youth is the PURSUIT of education. Because once that has been taught, then the teaching will do itself. But of course that will never happen because there can never be a form of control imposed on that. If everyone lived to learn and expand their horizons than there would be too much ground for the sun to set on and no body of government would be able to keep an eye on all of that skyline. The only way that would be possible would to be either for the government to become the sun that rises and settles or to be the ever expansive horizon their youth seeks. And that somewhat breaks down into Socialism I believe, but socialism as we all know, is merely an idealic system that rarely works when there are so many seperate agendas festering or nursing within each individual.
Peace~

Ok so I was watching a movie in science the other day about America going to the moon. Basically the movie said it was all a big lie and had alot of evidence supporting it. Now I saw that other movie that's posted here somewhere about how America made the whole 9/11 thing and I believe that so I believe america lied about going to the moon too.
I didn't think it was neccessary to start a new topic so I posted it in here.

I wouldnt be surprised, I've always been bothered by all the money spent traveling into space. People are starving and social security is drained but we continue to spend trillions of dollars on wars and space travel.

I really do think our government lied about going into space. Not to fool us, but so it would help us win the cold war.
