man. When I get older and have kids. I dont think I will show them smokeing weed. I think that it will not be allowd in the house till they are 20. I think thats only fair. I went 20 years of my life without smoking weed or drinking. I dont know. it will really depend on what the little lady has to say about the whole thing. Not that she will be the only one to raise our children, but she will have a big say. O well. more drink to drink and more herb to herb....i mean smoke. Using the new bong i got the other night. trying to must the courage to type the sad story.

So cuz your perants sucked, and you were too scared to sneak out and try Either of them (or didnt have friends whatever tickles your fancy) you must force the same harsh, mean and meaningless rules upon them? thats just wrong.   :? :D

Or maybe he just didn't choose to start... I didn't choose to start until I was seventeen.

The rule is hardly mean, and definitally not meaningless. What would you advise? Sex, drugs, and rock and roll for the pre-teens? Rules are needed. So he sets his age at 20 instead of the usual 21 (in the states, or 19 in Canada, or whatever the age is in whatever countries you live in). There is no need to get after him simply because he wants to give his children a chance to develop before he begins to morph their minds with drugs. No, pot doesn't have many bad effects, but for anyone who hasn't yet gone through / is going through puberty it screws with the delicate process of growing up.

The situtation with my parents is my dad when i was younger told me he tried it in the navy and didn't like it, soo my dad could say nothing when i told him, my mum found out when i moved out and totally screwed at me but all i told her was i was gonna carry on smoking and wasn't gonna lie to her and she has had to accept it! I would let my kids smoke, if i was ever gonna have any, and im NOT, i do not have a matiernal bone in my body.

ok if you went through puberty @ 20 i feel Very Very sorry for you.. and highschool must have sucked for you. but yeah it prolly would screw up the not that delicate process... so as soon as they go through it i say toke on hahaha..

No man thats not it at all. I never had to sneak out. never needed to. my mom was like, where are you going, who are you going to be with and when are you going to be back. after i anwsered these questions i was free to go. i could have lied and done the things everyone else is doing but i didnt need to. i had no desire for drugs or alch. i dont know why i just didnt. i was 19 and 11 months before i did anything "bad".

So to recap.

My mother didnt suck at being a parent. She was probaly better that both yours put together.

Never had to sneak out.

"harsh rules" i turned out fine without rules, might just go that same route with my kids.

oh man you guys make me laugh.
My mum and dad have smoked weed since there teens.im 28 and my brother is 22 and we have both grown up with cannabis as part of every day life.rather than my dad going out and getting pissed and comming home and knocking the shit out of us, he and mum would light up a spliff and just chill.
I started smoking at a very young age and i grew up thinking that ALCOHOL is the enemy.( well isn't it?) Anyway my daughter is now three and i dont smoke in front of her ( her lungs are clean mine arn't)but she knows that mummy has special cigs lol.
As soon as she turns 16 and is legal enough to buy her own fags she can smoke weed NO PROBLEM AT ALL.

Once again, insults are not the way to answer. And I know you are gonna say "I didn't insult you" but you implied an insult, you know you did. It is as clear as day.

In any case, I didn't say that 20 was the age people should be before they started smoking. I'm of the opinion that sixteen is an age where most people are most of the way through puberty and generally mature enough to make their own decisions. All I said to you was that you shouldn't be so rude to the guy about his decision to make his age limit 20.
