Torrents ????

Post by tr0ttaz* »

Hi there............. I've just got back online after 18mths & i've found Kazaa is no longer the free file sharing top dog that i left behind

Now i'm confronted with "Bit Torrents" & ISO files :?: :?: :?:

Basically i'm after a cracked copy of Reason V3.0 for music production & i'm struggling to find a decent P2P program that the masses are using. I did d/load a torrent of 3 cd's in ISO format of this prog, but when it came to burning them all went well until the final cd & i got a critical error from the burning prog (some file missing) & it didn't finish the job. My lack of knowledge in this area is the real problem, so any help/advice would be real useful fellas..............................

Hey BUDA..............

Thanx for the link, i've actually tried most from www.zeropaid.com which is a great site for sourcing popular P2P, gives ratings, quantity of d/loads, quality of search responses etc. The only problem is that Kazaa, Gnutella, Limewire & many more are all asking for subscriptions now......BUT i did find that Shareaza & Soulseek are all free from start to finish, Soulseek seems to be excellent for mainly music especially albums. Shareaza on the other hand is giving me responses to my Reason V3.0 search but alot of it seems to be torrent links which takes me back to my original problem

 me thinx.............

Hit from the budbomb & go on a mission

get a prgram that you can download torrents with such as Bit Comet (thats the one you should get). then what i usually do to find torrents is go to google and search something like " "artist name" "record title" torrent " then choose one of the torrent sites in the results and choose a torrent to download, when it downloads choose open with Bit Comet then it will download, its quite straight forward once youve done it

zeropaid is good, i would use limewire for that type of p2p but torrents are better overall i would say

Thanks for the info Cam'

As i said, i have d/loaded a couple, but i can't see what the benefit is..... :? because once i've got the torrents d/loaded, i've then got to create cd's from the ISO files etc.....

When all i had to do before was find a good P2P prog, do a search, find a good speed &.....................bingo.. All converted with the .EXE file there, maybe a little bit of serial in notepad, maybe even a keygen.....

What i'm dying to know is...............whats all the fuss about torrents :?: :?:

AND

What was wrong with the old "Its all done for you method" :?: :?:

Torrents just seem like alot more work for the same outcome eventually....whats the benefit :?: :?:

I like torrents because it stops people leeching, even if they want to. Once its set up I can just leave it downloading/uploading.

Whenever I start it up I can just leave it and it will continue downloading.

Torrents are really, really amazing. I always use them for music. Anyways, for good speeds download Azureus. After that's installed, you can go to two of the largest torrent sites here and here. Happy downloading! :D

Nice for the prog'...............

Maybe its me, but i'm finding some real assholes when trying to d/load torrents. In fact it reminds me of the Napster days when people would watch your d/load & when its at 80 - 90% they would shut down or restrict the sharing folder..........for fun.

I started a d/load of the reason v3.0 i wanted & the prick on the other end shut me off at 92% & left me hanging for a week or more to finish the d/load...........whats that all about ?? Atleast with the P2P i resume my d/load from any other available source, with torrents i'm stuck to one all the time.

I had Bit Torrent as a d/loader & it seemed to work ok, but i've taken your advice & gone for Azureus 18C...........watch this space m8

The standard bittorrent client is shit. With azeureus you can actually configure everything you want and more. If there is other people downloading then they are also uploading at the same time. And also people who have downloaded files will usually leave the file uploading, so even more people can download them. It is a good system which works well if people are willing to be helpful.

Kronic..........you've just hit the nail, its all about people willing to be helpful & thats what bugs me, if you dont wanna share why even bother allowing any access to the files????

Its almost a form of snobbery, "I'VE got the file you want, but i'll only let you have it when i'm ready"

A perfect example is my first forray into Shareaza. I found someone with Grey Boy Allstars tracks, first time for me, no match at all, ever, through Kazaa. As soon as i started to d/load a file i get cut off, infact i've just tried the same again, in less than 10secs, cut off.

Maybe its me..........................

Nah its not just you, I've always been one to share my files if I've got them from someone, but most people are like "I've got the file, fuck all of you who dont, im not sharing it" At least with Bittorrent, you HAVE to upload while you are downloading, which is why it was such a breakthrough. It is the best file sharing imo.

Just downloading and not uploading is called leeching and will get you IP banned from trackers. Some trackers are very, very major and control millions of torrents, so it's best to try and upload as much as you can. That's why I like torrents so much more, because it weeds out the leechers.
