Trust Issues

Post by smoke_weed »

Okay,so i'm talking to a guy (and yes, i'ma female.) Mom can not get over how he is a couple of years older than I am, and she insists us breaking up. I tell her we arn't dating (which we arn't), but she still doesnt believe me. She has grounded me from the phone ect. Does anyone know how to get her to see I'm not dating him, and he isnt too old? I've tried explaining that age doesn't matter. Nothing that i've tried works. I've used the 'believe what you want' method, and it just got me into more shit. Thanks :)

If your over 16 then tell her to FUCK UP. and that you can see whoever you want to see. It's not her life to fuck around with.

how old are you and how old is he? imo ask how old ur parents are and see if theirs any age difference their. if their is and its more than the amount between you and your (boy)friend then tell her shes a f**k*n hippocrite.

dont swear at your parent.. they dont like it much, well at least mine dont.
Do not take what i say seriously.

Hes 18 and i'm 15.. they are both the same age. I can do a little research and find out how old my real dad is..if it's more than 3 years, I could hold that against her. Anyways, I have told her to stop making decisions for me, and my step-dad agrees that I should be old enough to make those kind of decisions, if i'm not, they've done something wrong.

Thanks to those who have helped.

I'm pretty sure that's illegal in which case your mom has a point. In my opinion especially in your young age. Guy just go after younger girls cuz its so much easier. Much like freshman in college.

hehe yep. Also, you can take what shes saying and shove it right back into her face by telling her that she and your dad are <insert number of years here>, and ask how thats any different. (similar to what cdc said)

since it is technically illegal to be dating someone 18+, theres not much you can do in that aspect.

and like Toonces said, when you turn 16 (soon hopefully) tell her that she needs to stop governing your life, that shes a helicopter, and that she doesnt have much say in your personal life (i said not much, not not any, which comes along when youre 18.)

hope i helped a bit. Good luck.

I recomend people argue with their parents as little as possible. Cant you just see him without your parents knowing? Throughout all of childhood I never told my mom about any relationships I had going on. Not because I was hiding anything but because I just didnt tell her.

Just be careful when you're arguing with the same people who pay for the roof over your head and probably even the weed your smoking.

Good Luck. I hope it works out.

I totally agree with what Doc Green has to say on the subject. Always keep your relationship with your parents as open and loving as possible.

It wouldn't be a very nice birthday gift to come home after your 18th birthday celebration with friends to find all of your shit packed up and sitting on the lawn with a note saying, "You wanted your freedom?? NOW YOU HAVE IT!"

Everyone has very good points here. I have actually pretended to be a parent and it would make me uneasy about my daughter seeing an adult, especially when she is 15.

I talked to mom about it, and how I've learned my lesson about staying up all night on the phone. She still thinks we're dating, but I would too, if my daughter where on the phone with a guy for hours at a time.

Dr. Greenthumb, the recomendation that I argue less with her, has gotten me more and more slack with her. I agree with her-even though I don't want too- and it has gotten me more slack than with yelling at her like a toddler would. Thanks :)

Thanks to everyone -yet again-
