God is something everyone has inside him/her, something like ego, alter ego etc. What you think of God and how you feel about him/her affects your life in a huge way, it can give you peace of mind, strenght etc. That's just a part of being a human being.
Now, I honestly don't know if God exsists in any way that religions around the world see him/her, just like I don't know anything about the nature of time (if it exsist or not etc.), if the universe is eternal (some things people just can't know), but I do know that I have a feeling of God inside me and that anyone I ever came in contact with has some form of that feeling and that if he/she accepts that feeling it brings peace, strenght etc.

to the person who made this thread: i hope you never come back to weedguru you stupid cunt. you're the worst element of society, someone who not only is actually oppositional to spirituality, but doesnt even make any argument for it. that's not a debate. that's you being a piece of shit. plus you got shut down by caro.

to caro: youre fucking beautiful. i couldn't believe it when i saw what you wrote about life being about learning and experience and our souls growing through that and that in fact being a manifestation of god. i'm writing a play where this is pretty much the theme. it's not done yet, but if you want me to send it to you i'd be interested in your opinion.
don't be free: it's your duty as a citizen / don't smoke weed, must pay to continue living / if we all buy in maybe it'll be a reality / all pretend, and then all blind can control the city.

OK.. first off before I ask this let me tell you im agnostic. I dont necessarily not believe in God- What are you saying here? There was something like the opposite of an afterlife, before God put us on Earth we were ALL with him at one point? Why would he destroy our memories of him, that seems more like a confusing theory than a test of faith to me.

(i probably misunderstood you, so dont be surprised if THIS doesnt make any sense)

I was raised hardcore christian by my aunt but I stopped believing in God a little while after i stopped believing in santa claus. just like everyone else, i don't know for sure if there is a god or not but i choose not to believe. personally i don't want an afterlife. when i die i just want it to be gameover for me. i think it would be pretty messed up if it turned out there was a god and he sends me to hell for not believing. i don't bother him so why should he bother me. i'd probably get sent somewhere crappy like pergatory or limbo if i couldn't convince him to just destroy my soul

but when i lived with my aunt i 'asked jesus into my heart' and i'm pretty sure it says in the bible that if you honestly do that atleast once in your life then you'll go to heaven no matter what. i doubt that's true but if i got into heaven through a loophole that'd be... strange

When it comes to the world they have religions, races, beliefs, sexual preferences. People have many differnt views, but when it comes to us I just feel like we are our own people. We are stoners. were not black, white, gay, christian or athiast, were just stoners.

There is a God & heres why:

I have this watch. It's a really nice watch, hand made. When I look at my watch, I can't but help but respect the person who must have took the time and patience to put it together. And I'm sure that he loves his work and the watches he makes.
If you were to give me all the parts to my watch and a set of instructions, there would probably be no way I would be able to put it back together, and any fool knows if you put those pieces into a bag, shook them up, struck lightning on them and/or just let them sit there for billions of years, nothing would happen. (besides a chared watch from the lightning)

Just the same, if a tornado came through a trailer park, after the destruction you wouldn't find the space shuttle.

I refuse to believe that we came from nothing. You and I are too complex for something to just happen.

The famous astronomer and mathematician Sir Fred Hoyle once did a mathematical analysis of the chances of life having evolved and concluded:

"The likelihood of the spontaneous formation of life from inanimate matter is one to a number with 40,000 naughts after it…. It is big enough to bury Darwin and the whole theory of evolution."

And for us to sit here and try to grasp God is unfathomable. God is bigger then all of us combined.

God gave all of us free will. Its up to you weather or not to allow him into your heart and listen to what he says. Its up to you to accept the fact weather or no he sent himself in the form of a Man so it would be easier for you to enter his kingdom. He provided you a manual to your life, and all those little flukes in life (aka coincidence) could possibly be him tring to speak to you to follow him before its too late.

It's all about choice. To accept one theory or the other.

-> Sure he does, possibly because that's the only thing he's good at. Maybe watch-making was passed on to him from his father, maybe he needs to work in a watch shop to pay his bills.

(besides a chared watch from the lightning)

-> Of course nothing happens. Hand-made watches needs hands to make or remake them. They don't put themselves back together. I'm not quite grasping the logic of how broken watches remainging broke relates to divine existance. And about you not being able to make the watch: Watch-makers need to learn their trade before they can make a watch.

Just the same, if a tornado came through a trailer park, after the destruction you wouldn't find the space shuttle.

-> I'm confused, why would there be a space shuttle in a trailer park in the first place?

I refuse to believe that we came from nothing. You and I are too complex for something to just happen.

-> So that immediately proves there is a God? Maybe human science simply cannot grasp the hows and whens and whys of the origin of the universe yet. Don't forget, 200 years ago, we didn't have television, radio, cars, computers and just about every other piece of modern comfort and technology. Science is still pretty damn limited.

-> And how exactly did Sir Fred Hoyle calculate the possibility of evolution? Moreso, how can ANYONE do that? Is there perhaps a mathematical equasion for evolution?

And for us to sit here and try to grasp God is unfathomable. God is bigger then all of us combined.

-> That is something I have to agree on, if there actually is a "God", I doubt he's an old man with a grey beard ruling from his throne in the sky, as most christians tend to believe.

God gave all of us free will. Its up to you weather or not to allow him into your heart and listen to what he says. -> That's the easy way out. Saying "People that don't believe in God just don't didn't let him into their hearts yet." Is just as dumb as saying "There is gold in my back yard, I just haven't found it yet."

It's all about choice. To accept one theory or the other.

Right back at ya! :)

Yeah, Maybe. That's not the point though. Your being to literal. The point was the watch is a very complex piece of work that takes precise instruments and steady hands, let alone the know how to put it together. Not just anyone could do that. "Maybe" he was the first person to ever make this watch "Maybe" he made all the parts from scratch. "Maybe" He was the first in his family to make these wonderfully crafted watches. People can copy his work, but he was the first. It all had to start somewhere though.
-> Of course nothing happens. Hand-made watches needs hands to make or remake them. They don't put themselves back together.
Exactly my point. It dosen't just happen.
I'm not quite grasping the logic of how broken watches remainging broke relates to divine existance.
Because just like life starting on this planet, it didn't just happen on its own. It had to be started by someone. For some, this explains the exsitance of God.
-> I'm confused, why would there be a space shuttle in a trailer park in the first place?
Therioes on evolution say that life started Billions and Billions of years ago in a puddle of mud. But how?! Some say the right amounts of chemicals and the right tempature and lots of waiting... Take the Frankenstien model, it took lightning to start Frankenstiens monster to wake up. Just the same:
A tornado ripping through a trailer park causes destruction, It dosen't create something as large and complex as the space shuttle.
-> So that immediately proves there is a God?

No it dosen't immediatley prove there is a God. Thats why its called a theory.

Maybe human science simply cannot grasp the hows and whens and whys of the origin of the universe yet.

Maybe human science simply cannot grasp the concept of a Creator and instead tries to explain it with guesses.

Don't forget, 200 years ago, we didn't have television, radio, cars, computers and just about every other piece of modern comfort and technology. Science is still pretty damn limited.
Along with the wheel, our solar system, argriculture, ink, print press, art, philosophy, economics, ceral, bread, the sword, shoes, etc. Whats your point?

People have been trying to prove Creationism wrong since Egyptian times and it still can not be disproven nor proven, along with Chaotic Chance neither being proven nor disproven.
-> And how exactly did Sir Fred Hoyle calculate the possibility of evolution? Moreso, how can ANYONE do that? Is there perhaps a mathematical equasion for evolution?
No clue. The following was taken from http://www.answersingenesis.org/docs2003/0626origin.asp
The late Sir Fred Hoyle, who coined the term big bang (in ridicule), has recently concluded that the origin of life by chance is an absurd idea. In his book Evolution From Space, Hoyle insists that it is obvious that the complexity of life demands an intelligent designer, possibly even (heaven forbid!) God. According to Hoyle: ‘Once we see, however, that the probability of life originating at random is so utterly minuscule as to make it absurd, it becomes sensible to think that the favorable properties of physics on which life depends are in every respect deliberate ... . It is therefore almost inevitable that our own measure of intelligence must reflect ... higher intelligences ... even to the limit of God ... such a theory is so obvious that one wonders why it is not widely accepted as being self-evident.’ In an address at Cal Tech, Hoyle said that no amount of time now being considered by evolutionists is even remotely adequate to accomplish the formation of a higher living organism by chance. Such an event, he said, would be comparable to the chance that ‘a tornado sweeping through a junk-yard might assemble a Boeing 747 from materials therein.’

I'm not sure how he came to that conclusion, all I know is he did.
-> That is something I have to agree on, if there actually is a "God", I doubt he's an old man with a grey beard ruling from his throne in the sky, as most christians tend to believe.
I don't know what he is. Your probably right, he probably dosen't look like Santa Clause or Father Time on a big throne in the sky. Once again, something like that is too hard to grasp, and not really worth it.
-> That's the easy way out. Saying "People that don't believe in God just don't didn't let him into their hearts yet." Is just as dumb as saying "There is gold in my back yard, I just haven't found it yet."
Before I became a Christian, I didn't understand that whole letting him into your heart stuff either. Later I learned its just a term used to try to explain what it means to have the Lord walking with you, leading you and guiding you. Being filled with the Holy Spirit and accepting it.

And its not an easy way out. The easy way out is agreeing with everyone else and saying there isn't a God. I'm being persecuted now because for my beliefs. It's not easy an easy way out. (And besides, its not that you didn't find the gold yet, its that you didn't try to look yet.)

My dad once said to me: "Daniel, you can argue with someone until your both blue in the face. It won't change their opinion." :)

And again, I'll end this with what I said before: It's all about choice (freewill). You have the choice to accept one theory or the other.
